What fits in 1 MB
A lot. In our tests a detailed photo of 2,000 x 2,500 pixels came to about 530 to 690 KB at good quality, so 1 MB keeps a photo large enough to print or view full screen. Most phone photos only need a moderate drop in quality to get there.
Questions
How do I reduce a photo to under 1 MB?
Choose the photo, keep 1 MB as the limit and download. The tool keeps the full size when it can and shrinks only if quality alone is not enough.
Is 1 MB 1,000,000 or 1,048,576 bytes?
Sites differ, so the tool aims under 1,000,000 bytes, which passes both.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is compressed by your browser on your device, and nothing is sent to uncrop.si or anyone else.
