WebP is a useful alternative to JPG for web images when the destination supports it. This page selects WebP output with an adjustable quality setting. The result may be smaller, but dimensions and image content are just as important as the file extension.
Start at a moderate-to-high quality and check faces, gradients, lettering and textured areas. A very low setting can add visible artefacts. The final file-size message lets you compare the actual WebP output with the original JPG instead of relying on an assumed reduction.
The conversion does not reconstruct detail lost to the JPG source. It also does not create transparency in an opaque photograph. If you only need fewer pixels, resize first; if the destination requires JPG, export that format instead.
