How to translate an image
Add your image
Drop it on the page, choose it, or paste it with Ctrl + V.
Pick a language
Choose the language you want the text in.
Press Read
The AI reads the text and translates it, usually in a few seconds.
Copy or download
Copy the translation, or the original text, or download it.
The original and the translation
You get both: the text as written in the image, and its translation. Names and numbers are kept as they are, so you can check them against the original.
Languages
You can translate into English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Urdu, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean. The AI reads the original in many more languages and scripts.
How it works
Your browser makes a smaller copy of the image and removes its location and camera details. When you press Read, that copy goes to the AI service we use, which reads the text and sends it back. We keep neither the image nor the text.
The AI reads whole lines in context, which helps with photos taken at an angle, mixed fonts, tables and handwriting. Always check important details such as names, amounts and dates.
Questions
Is translating an image free?
Yes. You get 3 free reads a day without signing up, and each image you read counts as one. The count resets at midnight UTC.
Is my image uploaded?
Only when you press Read. Your browser first makes a smaller copy of the image without its location or camera details, then sends it to the AI service we use, which reads it and sends the text back. We keep neither the image nor the text. Every other tool on uncrop.si works on your device and sends nothing.
Which languages can it translate into?
English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Urdu, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean.
Does it keep names and numbers?
It is told to keep names and numbers as they are. Check important details such as amounts and dates against the original.
How accurate is the translation?
Good for everyday text such as signs, menus, messages and letters. For legal or medical documents, ask a qualified translator.
Why is there a daily limit?
Each read runs a paid AI model, so a daily limit keeps the tool free for everyone. Larger limits are planned.
