Indian passport photo, 630 x 810 px
Passport Seva’s ICAO guideline asks for a 630 x 810 pixel colour photo with the face filling 80 to 85% of it. Line it up here and save the file, or print copies.

- Face 80 to 85% of the photo
- e-Visa square photo too
- Top of head
- Chin inside this band
- Eyes inside this band
Brightness and background tools are off for official passport and visa photos, because passport offices reject edited photos. Retake the photo in even light against a plain light wall instead.

How to make an Indian passport photo
Pick the photo you need
Choose the country and document. The frame and guides change to its official size.
Add a photo of your face
Taken straight on, in even light, against a plain light wall. A phone photo is fine.
Line it up
Tap the top of the head and the chin. The tool sizes and centres the head, then you can fine tune.
Download or print
Save the digital photo for an online form, or a 4 x 6 in or A4 sheet of copies to print.
The Passport Seva photo rules
The guideline asks for a close-up of the head and the top of the shoulders, with the face taking up 80 to 85% of the photo, in colour, at 630 x 810 pixels, against a white background. It must show the full head from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin, centred and not tilted.
The photo should be unaltered by computer software, taken from about 1.5 metres away, with the eyes open, the mouth closed and glasses taken off to avoid reflections. Head coverings are only allowed for religious reasons.
Indian visa and e-Visa photos
Pick India visa and e-Visa photo for a square photo. The e-Visa site takes a square JPG of 10 KB to 1 MB on a plain white or light background, and the regular visa form takes 350 to 1000 pixels up to 300 KB, so the tool saves 600 x 600 pixels under 300 KB, which suits both.
How the guides work
The frame has the exact shape of the photo you picked. A red line marks where the top of the head should be, and a green band shows where the chin must land so the head is the size the rules allow. For a US visa photo a blue band also marks the eye line.
Choose Line it up for me, tap the top of the head and then the bottom of the chin, and the tool scales the photo so the head sits in the middle of the allowed range, centres it, and straightens a small tilt. Drag, scroll or pinch to fine tune. The keyboard works too: arrow keys move the photo, plus and minus zoom.
Printing passport size photos
A 4 x 6 inch print holds 8 photos of 35 x 45 mm and an A4 sheet holds 30. Print the PDF at 100 % or Actual size, not Fit to page, so every photo comes out at exactly the right size. Then cut along the thin grey lines.

Questions
What is the Indian passport photo size in pixels?
630 x 810 pixels, according to the Passport Seva guideline for ICAO compliant photos.
How big should the face be?
The face should take up 80 to 85% of the photo, from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin.
What background colour is needed?
White.
What size is an Indian e-Visa photo?
A square JPG of 10 KB to 1 MB, on a plain white or light background, with no glasses, shadows or border.
Can I edit the photo or change the background?
No. The guideline says photos should be unaltered by computer software, so take the photo against a white wall instead.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is cropped and saved by your browser on your device. It is never sent to uncrop.si or anyone else.
Will my photo be accepted?
The tool gets the size and the head position right, which are the most common reasons photos are rejected. Officials also check things no tool can fix afterwards, such as even lighting, focus, a neutral expression and a plain background, so take the photo with care and read the official rules linked under the photo.
