How to print passport size photos on A4

  1. Pick the photo you need

Choose the country and document. The frame and guides change to its official size.

  2. Add a photo of your face

Taken straight on, in even light, against a plain light wall. A phone photo is fine.

  3. Line it up

Tap the top of the head and the chin. The tool sizes and centres the head, then you can fine tune.

  4. Download or print

Save the digital photo for an online form, or a 4 x 6 in or A4 sheet of copies to print.

What fits on an A4 sheet

An A4 sheet holds 30 photos of 35 x 45 mm in 6 rows of 5, 15 US photos of 2 x 2 inches, or 32 Chinese visa photos of 33 x 48 mm, with 2 mm between photos for cutting. Choose fewer copies if you only need a few.

Printing at home

Use photo paper for the best result. Print the PDF at 100 % or Actual size, not Fit to page, so every photo comes out at exactly the right size. Then cut along the thin grey lines. If your printer cannot print close to the edges, the 3 mm margin keeps every photo whole.

How the guides work

The frame has the exact shape of the photo you picked. A red line marks where the top of the head should be, and a green band shows where the chin must land so the head is the size the rules allow. For a US visa photo a blue band also marks the eye line.

Choose Line it up for me, tap the top of the head and then the bottom of the chin, and the tool scales the photo so the head sits in the middle of the allowed range, centres it, and straightens a small tilt. Drag, scroll or pinch to fine tune. The keyboard works too: arrow keys move the photo, plus and minus zoom.

Why there is no background remover for passports

Official passport and visa photos must not be edited. India’s passport guideline says photos should be unaltered by computer software, and the US does not accept photos changed with filters or editing apps. So for official formats the tool only crops and resizes, and the way to get a white background is a white wall or a white sheet behind you.

For everyday forms that just ask for a passport size photo, the general 35 x 45 mm option does offer brightness, contrast and a tool that whitens a plain wall.

Questions

How many passport size photos fit on A4?

Thirty photos of 35 x 45 mm, fifteen of 2 x 2 inches, or thirty-two of 33 x 48 mm.

How do I print them at the right size?

Print the PDF at 100 % or Actual size, not Fit to page, so every photo comes out at exactly the right size. Then cut along the thin grey lines.

Which paper should I use?

Photo paper gives the sharpest result. Check the rules of your application, as some countries ask for prints from a photo lab.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The photo is cropped and saved by your browser on your device. It is never sent to uncrop.si or anyone else.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark, and you can make as many photos and print sheets as you like.

Will my photo be accepted?

The tool gets the size and the head position right, which are the most common reasons photos are rejected. Officials also check things no tool can fix afterwards, such as even lighting, focus, a neutral expression and a plain background, so take the photo with care and read the official rules linked under the photo.
