How to make a PDF under 300 KB

  1. Read the upload rule

Note the limit, the file type and whether the 300 KB is for each file or for all of them together.

  2. Add the pages

Drop the photos or scans here. For a card with two sides, add the front first.

  3. Keep 300 KB selected

This page starts at 300 KB. Type another number in the Max box only if your form asks for one.

  4. Zoom in, then download

Open the PDF, check the smallest print and every number on it, then save it.

How many pages fit in 300 KB

We measured this on 13 October 2026. Our test pages were 12 megapixel images made to look like phone photos of printed A4 sheets: 10 point text on a desk, with uneven light and a little grain, about 1.1 MB each. We put sets of 1 to 10 of them through this page at 300 KB and read every PDF on a laptop screen.

So about seven pages is the comfortable limit for ordinary print. Pages with more detail use the space faster: in a second test on 15 October 2026, with more detailed page photos of about 2 MB each, seven pages already came down to about 68 DPI and the tool warned. Large type stays legible with less detail than our 10 point text, and fine print needs more, so treat seven as a guide and check the result with Open.

Forms that ask for 300 KB

Protean, which runs the NSDL PAN service, lists PDF as the format for the supporting documents of a PAN application and gives the size as a maximum of 300 KB per page (Protean upload guide). Proof of identity, address and date of birth are often one or two pages each, and a proof saved as one PDF under 300 KB meets that rule however the pages are counted. The photo and signature are separate JPG uploads with much smaller limits, which the compress to KB tool can meet.

India’s e-Visa wants the passport bio page as a PDF of at least 10 KB and at most 300 KB (e-Visa instructions). A single page kept the full 2,000 pixels in our test, so the passport page goes in at its best and lands far above the 10 KB minimum.

Scans, page photos and ordinary photos

A clean scan from a scanner or a scanning app has crisp black edges on white paper, and crisp edges take more bytes to store. Under the same 300 KB, our five scanned pages kept about 890 pixels each, against about 1,030 for five page photos. Both read well, because a scan has no shadow or grain softening the letters.

For each file, or for all of them?

Upload rules are written two ways, and they need different PDFs. If each document has its own upload box with a 300 KB limit, make one PDF per document: add that document’s pages, create and download the PDF, then remove them and add the next. When every document is a single page, tick One PDF per image instead and get them all at once in a zip, each PDF under 300 KB on its own.

If the rule is 300 KB for everything together, put it all in one PDF here. If the form still wants separate files, share the limit out yourself: for two files, type 150 in the Max box and make each PDF in turn.

Questions

How many pages fit in a PDF under 300 KB?

In our test, seven A4 pages of 10 point print stayed easy to read, five stayed crisp and three were sharp. The tool warns that small print may blur once pages drop below about 70 DPI, which came at eight pages in that test and at seven with more detailed page photos.

How do I make a PDF under 300 KB for a PAN card application?

Photograph or scan each proof, add it here with the limit at 300 KB, and create the PDF. Make one PDF per proof if the portal has a box for each. The photo and signature go up separately, as JPG files.

Is 300 KB the same as 0.3 MB?

Yes, counting 1,000 KB to the megabyte, as the tool does. It keeps the PDF under 300,000 bytes and shows the size the same way, so a computer that counts 1,024 bytes to the kilobyte shows about 293 KB or less.

Why is my PDF still over 300 KB?

Check that Under a size is selected. With Best quality, photos go in at full size, and one phone photo can pass 1 MB on its own. This page makes PDFs from images and cannot shrink a PDF made elsewhere, so start again from the photos or scans.

Can I set 250 KB or 280 KB instead?

Yes. Type any number in the Max box, in KB or MB. The tool already stays below the exact figure, so there is no need to leave extra room.

Will the passport page be clear enough for the e-Visa?

In our test a single page kept the full 2,000 pixels, about 180 DPI on A4, and small print stayed sharp. Crop away the table around the passport first, so the pixels go to the page itself.

Can I make a PDF under 300 KB without losing quality?

Not with nothing lost at all: to fit, each page is saved again as a lighter JPG. In our test the loss was hard to see on up to five A4 pages, which stayed crisp. Best quality copies JPG photos in untouched, but then the PDF is about as big as the photos, so it only fits when they are already small.

Do my documents leave my device?

No. Your browser builds the PDF from the files you pick. Your images and the PDF are never sent to uncrop.si or anyone else, so no copy of your ID sits on a server waiting to be deleted.
