This page opens on the Instant square card, the shape of a Polaroid 600 or i-Type print. Instant mini, the shape of an Instax Mini print, is next to it in the Classic group.
Choose your crop
Drag on the preview for a custom crop. The shaded edges will be removed. Need more room instead? Uncrop the photo.
Set the pixel dimensions
Dimensions are shared with the download controls below.
Presets set the longest edge. Unlocking the ratio can stretch the image.
Say something
With Text selected, drag on the picture to position your caption.
Give it an edge
Clear a line to leave it out. Wreath and instant designs fill their window from the middle of your photo, so crop first to choose what shows.
Frames are drawn inside the output size. PNG or WebP keeps any transparent corners.

Remove a background color
Best for plain backdrops. Connected removal starts at the picked pixel, or image corners. Use the brush for other areas.

Choose the file that fits
Use JPG or WebP quality to reduce file size. PNG is lossless. The actual file size appears after you download.
A conversion does not recover detail already lost from the source. Transparent pixels become white in JPG.

Three steps
How to add a Polaroid-style frame to a photo
- Choose a photo. The square instant card is already on it.
- Type a caption, pick a card color, or switch to Instant mini for a taller print.
- Download it to share, or set the print size in pixels and print it at actual size.
Why instant prints have a deep bottom edge
On an instant print, the wide strip under the picture is where the pouch of developing chemicals sits before it is spread across the image. That practical strip became the place people write a date, a name or a joke, and it is what makes a square photo read as an instant print at a glance.
Our Instant square card copies the shape of a Polaroid 600 or i-Type print: 88.5 by 107.5 millimeters, with a square window, sides of about 4.5 millimeters and a bottom strip about 22 millimeters deep. Instant mini follows an Instax Mini print, a taller card with a 46 by 62 millimeter window. Both have a faint paper grain and a soft shadow inside the window, the way a real print looks.
The card window has a fixed shape, so your photo fills it from the middle. A wide landscape loses its sides in the square card. To choose what shows, crop first: Square 1:1 for Instant square, or Portrait 4:5 for Instant mini, which trims only a little from the sides.
Instant film sizes
These are the print sizes published for each film. Use them to match a real print in a scrapbook or on a wall, or to print our cards at the same size.
| Film | Whole print | Picture area | Closest card here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polaroid 600, i-Type and SX-70 | 88.5 x 107.5 mm (3.48 x 4.23 in) | About 79 x 77 mm (3.1 x 3.0 in) | Instant square |
| Instax Mini | 54 x 86 mm | 46 x 62 mm | Instant mini |
| Instax Square | 72 x 86 mm | 62 x 62 mm | Instant square is a close match |
| Instax Wide | 108 x 86 mm | 99 x 62 mm | The Instant photo border style on a wide photo |
Print it at the real size
Printers work in pixels per inch. At 300 pixels per inch, a common print resolution, an Instant square card (88.5 by 107.5 millimeters) is 1045 by 1270 pixels and an Instant mini card (54 by 86 millimeters) is 638 by 1016 pixels. Type the width into Output width with Keep aspect ratio on, and the height follows within a pixel.
Both cards fit on 4 by 6 inch photo paper. In the print settings, choose actual size or 100 percent rather than fit to page, then trim along the edge of the card. Glossy paper looks closest to a real instant print.
For a wall of prints, give every card the same pixel width so they line up, and keep the same card color and caption style across the set.
Captions that fit the strip
The caption is set in a handwriting font from your device: Segoe Print or Ink Free on Windows, Bradley Hand or Noteworthy on Apple devices, and the browser's own script font elsewhere. It sits in the middle of the strip, tilted very slightly like a pen note, and gets smaller to fit if it runs long.
Short captions read best, and up to about 20 characters stays large on a phone. Clear the caption box to leave the strip blank, as many real prints are. A few ideas:
- A date: 14.10.26, Oct 2026 or Summer 2026
- A place: Goa, Brooklyn, Grandma's garden
- Names: Maya and Leo, Us, The gang
- A moment: First day of school, Best day ever, Road trip
Card colors
White card is the classic look. Black card suits night photos and strong colors, and its caption is drawn in a light ink. The square card also comes in mint, blush and sky, and the mini in lavender, lemon and mint, which work well for a themed set such as a baby shower or a trip.
Each new photo you open keeps the card, the color and the caption you chose, so a matching set is one photo after another. Change the caption for each print, or keep it the same across the set.
Polaroid, Instax and this page
Polaroid is a trademark of Polaroid, and Instax is a trademark of Fujifilm. uncrop.si is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by either company. We use the names only to describe the print shapes our cards copy, and the cards carry no logos or brand marks.
An instant camera or a phone printer makes a physical print you can hold. This page is for when you have a digital photo and want the look, for a post, a scrapbook page or a print you trim yourself.
Questions
Is this an official Polaroid frame?
No. It is our own drawing of an instant print in the shape of Polaroid and Instax film, with no logos. uncrop.si is not connected to Polaroid or Fujifilm, and the frame is free to use on your own photos.
What size is a Polaroid picture?
Polaroid gives 600, i-Type and SX-70 prints as 3.483 by 4.233 inches overall, which is 88.5 by 107.5 millimeters, with a picture area of about 3.1 by 3.0 inches. An Instax Mini print is 54 by 86 millimeters with a 46 by 62 millimeter picture.
How do I choose which part of my photo shows?
Open Crop first and pick Square 1:1, then change Left % or Top % to move the square over the part you want. Switch back to Frame and the card uses your crop.
Can I print it at the size of a real instant photo?
Yes. With Keep aspect ratio on, set Output width to 1045 pixels for the square card or 638 pixels for the mini, and the height follows within a pixel. At 300 pixels per inch that prints at the real card size. Print on 4 by 6 inch paper at actual size, then trim.
Can I make a black Polaroid frame?
Yes. Choose Black card under Colors, and the caption turns light so it stays readable. The same menu has white and pastel cards.
Is there a Polaroid frame template or PNG?
This page works as a live template: it frames your own photo and saves the finished card as a PNG, JPG or WebP. It does not give you a blank frame PNG with a see-through window, because each card is drawn to fit the photo inside it.
Can I change the handwriting?
The caption uses a handwriting font from your device, so it differs a little between phones and computers. For another style, clear the caption and add your own words with the Text tool, which has sans serif, serif and monospace fonts and lets you drag the text into the strip.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser, choose a photo from your gallery and download the card. Nothing is installed, and the photo stays on your phone.
