Three steps
How to make a Shradhanjali photo frame
- Choose a clear photo of the person.
- Type the name and dates, and choose the heading wording.
- Pick the garland or a plain frame, then download it for sharing or printing.
A simple, dignified tribute
We are sorry for your loss. This page makes the kind of tribute photo that is shared in family groups and kept at the prayer meeting: the photo inside a black and gold border on a cream card, a garland (mala) of marigolds around it, a black ribbon across the top corner of the photo, and two lit diyas below. The heading, the name and the dates sit under the photo. Families also call it a death photo frame, an RIP photo frame or a Shraddhanjali photo.
Under Colors there are four versions: Marigold garland, White flowers, Simple black and white with no garland, and Cream and maroon. All of them are quiet and plain on purpose. There are no ads on this page, and the photo never leaves your device.
The garland, ribbon and lamps are drawn by our own code rather than taken from stock images, so there is no watermark or credit line on the result, and you are free to share and print what you make. The photo itself belongs to your family or to whoever took it.
Wording in Hindi and English
The Heading list has the lines most often seen on tribute photos. Pick one, or type your own.
| Wording | Language | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजलि | Hindi | A heartfelt tribute |
| विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि | Hindi | A humble tribute |
| ॐ शांति (Om Shanti) | Sanskrit, used in Hindi | Om, peace: a prayer for peace for the soul |
| प्रथम पुण्यतिथि | Hindi | First death anniversary |
| In Loving Memory | English | The usual heading on memorial cards |
| Rest in Peace | English | Often shortened to RIP |
| Forever in Our Hearts | English | A gentle line for family posts |
Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil and other languages
Tribute photos are made in many Indian languages. The frame can draw any script your phone or computer can type, using the fonts already on it, so you can write the heading and the name in Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam or Nepali.
We only include ready wording in Hindi and English, because those are the ones we have checked. For another language, type the words your family uses, and ask someone who reads the language to look at the preview before you share or print it. If a letter shows as an empty box, that device has no font for the script, so try another phone or computer.
Name, dates and the death anniversary
Write the name the way the family wants it read. Many families put a title before it, such as स्वर्गीय श्री (the late Shri), स्व. for short, or श्रीमती for a married woman. In Indian English, Late Shri and Late Smt. are common.
The Dates line takes the years only, such as 1948 - 2026, or the full dates, such as 15 March 1948 - 2 October 2026. Full dates are longer, so on a narrow card the line gets a little smaller to fit.
For a death anniversary, called पुण्यतिथि (punyatithi) and in many families barsi, change the heading to प्रथम पुण्यतिथि for the first year, or to First Death Anniversary. For later years, type the year you need, such as द्वितीय पुण्यतिथि for the second. Keep the dates as they are.
Printing for the prayer meeting
Set the print size before you download. Untick Keep aspect ratio, type the size in pixels, and the card grows to fill the page while the photo keeps its shape. A sharp original matters more than a big print: an old or small photo does not get clearer when printed larger, so A4 is often the safer size for it.
The editor saves up to 4096 pixels on a side, so a 12 by 18 inch print comes out at about 228 pixels per inch rather than 300. To send the file to a print shop over WhatsApp, attach it as a document. WhatsApp usually compresses photos, while a document keeps the file as it is.
| Size | Pixels | |
|---|---|---|
| A4 | 210 x 297 mm | 2480 x 3508 (300 ppi) |
| 8 x 12 inch | 203 x 305 mm | 2400 x 3600 (300 ppi) |
| 12 x 18 inch | 305 x 457 mm | 2731 x 4096 (about 228 ppi) |
| 4 x 6 inch, for a small table frame | 102 x 152 mm | 1200 x 1800 (300 ppi) |
Choosing and preparing the photo
- Pick a photo where the face is in focus and well lit. A recent photo the family likes often works better than a formal one.
- Crop a group photo down to one person with the Crop tool. Keep the face away from the edges, because the garland covers a thin strip around the photo.
- For an old printed photo, photograph it flat near a window in daylight, without flash, so there is no glare. Then crop away the album edges.
- If the photo is dark or faded, raise Brightness and Contrast a little in Adjust. The frame keeps its own colors.
- For a black and white photo inside the colored frame, tick Grayscale photo in Adjust.
Questions
Is this Shradhanjali photo frame editor free, without a watermark?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark or credit line, needs no sign-up, and shows no ads. The frame is drawn on your device and the photo is not uploaded anywhere.
How do I write Shradhanjali in Hindi?
भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजलि is already set as the heading on this page. The list also has विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि and ॐ शांति. Tap or click the Heading box to see the suggestions, or type your own words.
Can I make an RIP photo in English?
Yes. Pick Rest in Peace, In Loving Memory, Forever in Our Hearts or Om Shanti from the Heading list, or type RIP. The name and the dates work the same way in English.
Can I add the date of birth and the date of death?
Yes. Type both into the Dates line, for example 15 March 1948 - 2 October 2026, or just the years. The line is centered under the name.
Can I make a photo frame for a death anniversary?
Yes. Choose प्रथम पुण्यतिथि or First Death Anniversary from the Heading list, or type the anniversary you need, and keep the name and the dates.
Can I remove the garland?
Yes. Choose Simple black and white under Colors for a plain frame with no flowers. White flowers swaps the marigolds for a white garland.
What size should I print for the prayer meeting?
A4 or 8 by 12 inches suits a photo on a table or an easel, and 12 by 18 inches suits a larger stand. Untick Keep aspect ratio and type the pixel size from the table on this page before you download.
Can I save it as a PDF for the print shop?
Yes. Download the frame as a JPG, then open JPG to PDF, add the image and choose A4. Many print shops also take the JPG itself, so ask which they prefer.
Is the photo uploaded or stored?
No. The photo is opened and framed inside your browser, and it is never sent to us or to anyone else.
